Homie Learns to Code

Homie has always been your go-to for search, reminders, and analytics. Now, we're taking it to the next level by applying that context to code generation. Homie understands your project conventions, writes the code and opens a pull request (PR).

How to Get Started:

1. Use Slack to chat with Homie.

2. @mention Homie and request it to write code and submit a PR.

3. Grab a cup of coffee.

4. Return and review the PR.

But wait, there's more! Homie can now assist with modifying existing PRs. Just begin a review and prefix your comments with /homie, and Homie will implement the changes.

This functionality is available for both Homie's PRs and other PRs. If you're tired of making the same changes during reviews, just let Homie handle them for you!

What's Included?

• Quick Task Filters: Quickly find the tasks your looking for: new, stale, unassigned, or late.

• Task Categories: View task types like features, bug fixes, maintenance, and planning. Keep your team focused on the right balance between feature development and bug fixes.

• Detailed Task Metrics: Know exactly how much work your team has, with a clear view of how many days of effort remain. Makes sure there's always enough tasks in the pipeline!

• Prioritization Insights: See the % of task priorities to make sure your everybody's aware of next steps, and avoid overwhelming the team.

• AI-Powered Search: Find tasks quickly with our AI search. Just type what you remember about a task.

We’re working on some HUUGE changes to make your software delivery even better:

• Advanced Analytics: Get detailed insights to plan your team’s capacity, review performance, spot bottlenecks, and manage project plans—all still with zero configuration. Everything you need, right out of the box.

• Code-gen: Soon, Homie will be able to kick off PRs or even implement simple tasks directly from Slack! We estimate this feature could save up to 30% of dev time.

• Open-source Homie: We’ve always believed that Homie could help every software team deliver. With that belief, we built Homie to be open source from day 1. This means you’ll be able to customize automations, tweak prompts, and even self-host your very own Homie.
